Overview
An established outdoor clothing brand needed a digital experience that could bring together two sides of the business: high-performance outdoor apparel and a strong social purpose rooted in Nepal.
The website needed to work as a serious e-commerce platform, but it also had to communicate the story behind the brand - its connection to the Himalayas, its approach to materials and sustainability, and its commitment to supporting education in Nepal.
The challenge was finding a way to bring all of that into the customer journey without making the shopping experience feel complicated.
The Challenge
Balancing a large product catalogue with a brand that has a much bigger story to tell
Outdoor apparel customers tend to shop with a practical mindset. They want to quickly find the right jacket, fleece, shirt, or accessory, understand what makes it suitable, and make a confident purchase.
At the same time, this brand has a much bigger story to tell. Its identity is closely connected to Nepal, adventure, responsible materials, craftsmanship, and a mission that links every purchase to a day of education for a child in Nepal.
The website therefore had to do more than present a large product catalogue. It needed to make a broad range of products easy to navigate while giving the brand enough space to communicate why the products exist and what the purchase represents.
Why the products exist - and what the purchase represents.
Our Approach
Structured around the way people actually shop for outdoor clothing
The primary navigation gives customers quick access to new collections, men's and women's products, outlet, and impact-focused content - while deeper category navigation makes it easy to move into specific product types such as fleeces, jackets, shirts, sweaters, pants, and accessories.
From there, the experience provides several natural ways to continue. A customer can shop directly by category, explore a seasonal collection, discover products through layering, or move into the brand's story and impact content.
“I know what I want.”
Fast category navigation, product filters, and a clear path to purchase - no friction.
“I want to understand the brand first.”
Brand collections, impact stories, and sustainability content woven naturally into the experience.
Design & User Experience
Restrained interface. Powerful imagery. Built on trust.
Outdoor apparel benefits from strong photography and clear product presentation, so we kept the interface relatively restrained and allowed imagery to do much of the work.
The product catalogue is organized around familiar shopping categories, with dedicated collections for Made in Nepal, Tarcho, Travel, and Vacation - highlighting parts of the brand that would otherwise be buried inside a large catalogue.
Trust was another important part of the experience. Shipping information, returns, customer support, reviews, and other reassurance points are surfaced throughout the shopping journey so customers don't have to search for basic information before completing an order.
Brand & Impact
Keeping the brand's purpose visible - without turning it into a corporate message
One of the more important decisions was keeping the brand's purpose visible without turning it into a separate corporate message. The website connects the commercial experience with the company's wider mission: every item purchased provides a day of school for a child in Nepal, while the brand also highlights its work around sustainable materials and support for women through weaving cooperatives.
That story becomes part of the shopping experience rather than something customers only discover on an About page. It gives the purchase more context.
You're not only buying outdoor clothing - you're buying into the reason the brand exists.
E-Commerce Experience
A simple, purposeful path to purchase
Customers can move quickly through the catalogue when they know what they're looking for, while collection pages, brand content, reviews, and impact stories provide additional context for customers who need more information.
The experience also supports international customers through regional storefronts and localized shipping, pricing, duties, and delivery information - particularly important for a brand serving customers across multiple markets.
Technology
Commerce architecture built around flexibility and scale
The commerce experience is built on Shopify, providing the foundation for the product catalogue, collections, customer accounts, cart, and checkout. The implementation focuses on keeping the commerce layer reliable while giving the brand enough flexibility to manage a large and continually changing product catalogue.
The Outcome
Commercial and emotional - in the same experience
The completed experience brings the commercial and emotional sides of the brand together. Customers can move from a seasonal collection to a specific product in a few steps, while those who want to understand the company can explore its connection to Nepal, sustainability work, and social impact without leaving the wider shopping experience.
Practical when it needs to be, expressive when it matters, and purposeful throughout.
It gives the product range room to perform as an online store while making sure the story behind the brand remains part of the experience.
