Overview
WOO.design is an independent Irish furniture and home décor retailer offering a carefully selected range of designer products from brands and designers across Europe. With a catalogue spanning furniture, lighting, décor, storage, outdoor pieces, and accessories, the website needed to do more than support online purchases.
It needed to recreate some of the discovery and inspiration customers would normally experience in a physical showroom.
The goal was to make a large and varied catalogue feel easy to explore, visually engaging, and straightforward to purchase from.
The Challenge
Too much choice can quickly become difficult to navigate
WOO.design offers products across hundreds of collections and multiple design brands - from dining tables and seating to lighting, storage, beds, décor, and outdoor furniture. For a customer, having more choice is valuable, but too much choice can quickly become difficult to navigate.
The experience therefore needed to help customers narrow down a very broad selection without taking away the sense of discovery that makes furniture shopping enjoyable.
At the same time, individual products can have very different lead times, materials, dimensions, colour options, availability, and delivery requirements. The product experience needed to communicate these details clearly before purchase.
Narrow down a broad selection - without taking away the joy of discovery.
Our Approach
A digital showroom - not a product catalogue
The navigation is structured around the way people naturally shop for their homes - by furniture type, room, collection, and brand - while filters help customers narrow larger categories by characteristics such as colour, brand, and price.
Specific requirement
Arrive knowing what you need - category navigation and filters take you directly to the right product.
Open discovery
Browse freely across collections and brands, discovering products that fit a personal style.
That balance between search and discovery became central to the experience.
Product Experience
Furniture is a considered purchase - the product page has to earn the decision
Product pages give space to the information that influences the decision - dimensions, materials, available finishes, colours, stock status, delivery expectations, returns, and the story behind the product or designer.
Where products are made to order, the experience also communicates the expected lead time and relevant return conditions clearly. This helps customers understand what they are buying before they reach checkout - particularly important for larger furniture pieces where delivery and access can be important considerations.
Design & User Experience
The products are the interface
The visual direction puts the products first. Large imagery, clean layouts, straightforward typography, and generous spacing allow furniture to become the primary visual element rather than surrounding it with unnecessary interface elements.
The catalogue is supported by strong merchandising across collections, brands, outlet products, and ready-to-ship pieces - giving customers different entry points depending on how they want to shop. Trust and convenience are built into the experience through visible delivery information, returns, customer reviews, loyalty features, and access to real customer support.
An interface that feels closer to browsing a curated design showroom than navigating a conventional high-volume marketplace.
Brand & Discovery
Curation as a competitive advantage
A large part of WOO.design's proposition is its curation. The platform brings together established European design brands alongside more distinctive and emerging pieces, giving customers access to products they may not encounter through conventional furniture retailers.
The website supports that positioning through dedicated brand collections, editorial-style product presentation, and a broad range of categories.
Discovery becomes part of the shopping experience - not something that happens separately from commerce.
E-Commerce Experience
Simple despite the size of the catalogue
Customers can browse by category or brand, narrow down the selection using filters, explore individual products, check availability and delivery information, and complete the purchase online.
The platform also supports customers who prefer an offline experience, connecting the online store with the physical showroom and warehouse presence in Dublin.
Technology
A Shopify platform built to keep a large catalogue manageable
The website is built around a modern Shopify e-commerce platform, supporting a large and continually evolving product catalogue. The underlying platform keeps the operational side of the business manageable while the frontend focuses on making a large product range feel simple and enjoyable to browse.
The Outcome
A digital storefront as considered as the products it sells
The completed experience gives WOO.design a digital storefront that matches the character of the business: independent, design-led, curated, and personal. Customers can move from inspiration to a specific product without losing the feeling of discovery along the way.
A place where customers can find what they came looking for, discover something unexpected, and confidently bring it home.
